The Mob Cheff
When God made Tony Ianne he broke the mold. To say that he is a character is a pure understatement of fact. He grew up tough, a lover and a fighter.
Tony learned to cook Italian cuisine from the best instructors in the world; his mother, father, grandmother, and grandfather with recipes passed down from one generation to the next. He and 4 generations of his family have been in the restaurant business for 79 years — since 1935 — and have opened and operated 8 successful restaurants.
Ianne's Italian sausage, the Grinder, has become world-famous. The sausage recipe has been passed down for generations, and together with their pizzas, made the Ianne family famous. Tony’s “Meatballs Magnifico” are unlike any you can find anywhere in the United States including Little Italy in New York City. His sauces are as good as it gets. The “Mob Cheff’s” gnocchi, ravioli, and cavatelli are outstanding. His recipes are authentic like no other. Tony has a flare for cooking and creativity second to none.
The Mob Cheff, Tony Ianne now operates Rosarios on the Riverwalk which is regarded by many as simply the best Italian restaurant in the state of Colorado. He has been succesfully competing with the well-funded chain restaurants for years.
Fans of Tony's food include everyone from Baseball Hall of Famer and world-champion manager of the Los Angeles Dodgers Tommy Lasorda, well-known actors, boxers, Medal of Honor winners, New York City fire fighters from 911, to gourmet connoisseurs of fine food. They have all raved about Tony’s cooking.
Tony had an article praising his food in Bon Appetit Magazine and countless other articles have been written about him and his restaurants. Many Coloradans think “The Mob Cheff” makes the best Italian food in the state. In fact, people from all walks of life will tell you Tony Ianne’s food is as good as any they have eaten anywhere in the world.
TONY IANNE
The Wine Wise Guy
Joey Giarratano's family originated in Luca, Italy and migrated to the United States on two different occasions, with an additional 10 years stay in Italy. Goat farming was the trade and the steel industry was booming in the 40s and 50s in the U.S. so that was the legal method of work for the family.
The entire family dabbled in the beverage industry as well as the restaurant and lounge business in Pueblo and the family-owned beer distribution company, Walter's Beer. The basement at 1249 Mahren was the place where dice and cards and bookmaking took place for a number of years. The pool hall (Cheech's) at the corner was the cornerstone for all sorts of activities in the neighborhood.
Pueblo is affectionately called and known as "Little Chicago" and has a number of ties to the Kansas City underworld. The mob "Hall of Fame" as we knew it when growing up. Joey G (Wine Wiseguy) is a real life Bronx Tale and carried on the family tradition and legacy starting at an early age (some say around age 9). Joey and his cousin Jackie were running "favors" so to speak for the entire Goat Hill and Bessemer families. Dice games, card games, numbers, booze, and as always Italian food-the underground tunnels and casino were secret passages and get aways for literally every activity one could imagine.
Joey was born in Pueblo, Colorado and pursued a career in athletics, co-owned a bar at age 22 and became a baseball coach for the Italian Olympic team, which qualified for and played in the Los Angeles Olympic games. He later moved into college and professional baseball until rediscovering the wine spirit industry as well as distributing fine cigars. Presently, he is involved in the beverage industry and represents Wise Guy Wines around the world.
